We’re so excited to announce our fantastic cast for Duffy Beats the Devil at the magical Minack Theatre in Cornwall this autumn!
We’re delighted to be bringing some incredible talent to this stunning corner of Cornwall.
Kate Rawson who wrote this blog for us in Maternal Mental Health Week last year, stars as the Devil, following her acclaimed performances in Hell Fire Corner at Hall for Cornwall and many Scary Little Girls productions over the years. Her drama Little Blue Lines aired on BBC Radio 4 and her play The Marital Bed was runner-up for Comedy Writing at the Funny Women 2023 awards.
Playing the foolish but good hearted Squire is the wonderful Johanne Murdock, known for the atmospheric His Dark Materials, The Jetty and Emmerdale on TV and the 2022 film Tár. She has starred in countless Shakespeare plays in the West End and beyond, and “holds the action and audience in the palm of her hand.” British Theatre Guide
We’re also thrilled to welcome Rosie Ede as Cherry of Zennor, a key character in this lively Cornish tale. Rosie’s been a fan favourite in the films Finding Neverland and The Flash and you can currently catch her in the new Alien: Romulus movie at the cinema. We can’t wait for her to light up the Minack stage with Johanne Murdock again after their appearances in A Scary Little Tempest in 2022.
We’ll all be joined by some incredible young talent from the Minack Academy. These potential stars of stage and screen of tomorrow auditioned with us on the 10th July.
