We are incredibly proud of these much loved walks, which are really site-specific events: part self-guided tour, part promenade performance.

Our audiences are given a specially written route to follow, which not only directions them but also points out hints and histories about where they are, and as they walk they encounter actors who perform poems or short extracts of prose as if they were mini-plays.

We are forever indebted to director Abigail Anderson who developed this concept for Scary Little Girls in 2007 after her work with Mark Rylance’s on his Sonnet Walks for Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, the inspiration for the original events.  Abi’s Shakespeare in the Streets has been going from strength to strength and we highly recommend you join them for wonderful renditions of the bard’s beloved sonnets.

Scary Little Girls has created our own bespoke Living Literature Walks and events all over the country.  We have created performance pieces from literature as wide ranging as Elizabeth Barrett Browning to Daphne du Maurier, Agatha Christie to Philip Pullman  and many other classic and contemporary writers.  We have also commissioned exciting new writers, musicians and visual artists for these walks.
