Meet our delicious February Businesses of the Month

Every month, we profile a business we love. Often these are women owned, or vegan, or small. This month, our family of featured businesses are pretty much all of those things!

We’d like to introduce you to three connected (mostly) vegan eateries in Cornwall that we just adore – Apple Tree Cafe in Sennen, Orange Café Bar in Mousehole and mobile food truck Vood Bar.

If you’re going to be near Land’s End, stop off at the Apple Tree Café which serves their own artisan roasted coffee (Vood Coffee) as well as a wide range of teas, soft drinks and food. Their iced beetroot, coconut and cinnamon latte gets rave reviews! Closed over winter, when they open up again soon they’ll be serving breakfast – from porridge to the full Celtic – brunch, lunch, sweet treats and cream teas. The menu is largely vegetarian, with a strong focus on vegan food. Local artists and crafts people display their work in the café and previous events have included Wreath and Bookbinding Workshops, and themed food nights. The views from the outside seating are stunning, they have bike racks and are dog friendly. Read more reviews here.

Orange Café Bar is sister to Apple Tree Café, on Parade Hill in Mousehole. With zingy orange walls set against warm brown wood, it’s a cosy space to eat, drink and relax from breakfast through to dinner. The Sunday Roasts are becoming legendary, their cocktails incorporate local spirits, and their loaded fries are deservedly popular. It’s absolutely advised that you book, currently via their Insta.

Vood is a vegan food truck bringing delicious fresh plant based street food including burgers, tacos, nachos and more to various locations in Cornwall. Like it’s sisters above, the menu is informed by the seasons, centres on plant based and locally sourced. They popped up at Mousehole Carnival and the Lafrowda Festival last year – where will we see them this year?

All three are owned by Dee Anderson and all three serve the most incredible (mainly) vegan food. Food is predominantly locally sourced and always freshly prepared, which means that ingredients and menu items may vary due to season and supply.  If you live in Cornwall, are coming to see us for our Mayven Festival from the 10th-17th May or are planning a trip for another reason, we strongly encourage you to check them out!
