Going out for broadcast on 20th September we’re delighted that SLG Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan’s first piece of fiction for radio will be pack of the United Kingdoms series on Radio 4.
Following a year as part of the Cornish Voices BBC Writersroom, Rebecca was commissioned for this project which is billed as “A ground-breaking new series capturing contemporary life across the UK with bitesize dramas, monologues, poetry and song.” The them for this episode is ‘survival’ and Rebecca based her 5-minute dialogue on working with fellow SLG Director Shazz Andrew and her wonderful mother Joan, who is much missed by us all and her native Camborne where this tiny tale is set. Interviews with Shazz and Joan have been incorporated into the narrative which we hope makes for a loving tribute to Joan.
Huge thanks also to none other than Susan Penhaligon who turned in a star performance as Nan – what an honour!
