This month we’re getting a little bit intimate as we introduce you to the company behind Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan’s ‘personal fave pants EVER!’
Boody is a bamboo underwear and basics brand, founded in Sydney, Australia, in 2012 by David Greenblo and Neil Midalia. Their founding mission was to create sustainable, comfortable everyday essentials using organically grown bamboo.
Their first products were basic underwear for women and men, basic Ts and vests, and socks. They were all designed to be soft, breathable, and environmentally friendly, forming the foundation of their minimalist, sustainable fashion philosophy.
Today, that philosophy remains and the range has broadened to include softcup wireless bras, lounge and sleepwear for relaxing, dresses and jumpsuits, period proof pants and maternity friendly underwear in a range of shades to match the basics ethos – black, white, grey, olive and a range of creams and browns. They also have ranges including beanies and basics for babies and sweats, tops, sleepwear and underwear for men.
Boody’s UK website is packed with products and if you’re lucky you will find them on your high street – their map lists around 100 stockists in the UK and 17 on the island of Ireland. Many of these shops are independent wholefood, zero waste or health shops who will have a small part of the vast range. Their period pants are stocked in Superdrug and perhaps one day bigger stores will stock their full clothing range.
We love the styling used on their website – models of different shapes and sizes, at different ages, with a range of skin tones give more of us an idea of how the clothes will work for us. We also love their focus on basics – they’re the foundation of so much of what we wear, most of the time, that getting right and investing in sustainable quality. The fabrics are so soft, they move with you and get softer and softer with every wash.
We might not all be able to afford to shop ethical all of the time, but if you are able to choose to buy a few items here and there, why not choose those that will be closest to your skin, and that you’ll wear week in, week out?
