Celebrating Kirsty Cotton – a marvellous Mayven

Following the very sad passing of our friend Kirsty Cotton, talent development manager from Hall for Cornwall, we are dedicating our Mayven Festival to her memory.

We are devastated that our very dear friend Kirsty passed away recently. Kirsty was a powerhouse of encouragement, ideas and love for our sector here in Cornwall. She leaves a vast space that we can’t imagine anyone filling. Some of us were able to see her in her last days.

Our Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan, said, “Kirsty was the first person to elevate us – she, along with Helen Tiplady, appointed me as the first associate artist Hall for Cornwall when they started the programme, back in the day. We owe so much of what we are to her, and I’m personally devastated she’s gone, for myself, the region and the sector. We will miss Kirsty dreadfully.”

The Mayven is a woman who ‘combines a worldly knowledge, wisdom and expertise with an energy and vibrance that make her magnetic, sexy and powerful.. a creature of catalyst and challenge, distillation and divinity. Both powerful and authentic, a Mayven knows her worth and who she is and isn’t afraid to show it and receive respect.  She is fierce, guided by her intuition and relying on it, as do others, for she can see what is important and what’s, frankly, bullshit.’

If that’s not Kirsty, we don’t know what is. Our hearts go out to her family and all those who knew and loved her.

Kirsty, the irreplaceable, champion of Women and Wonders, now and forever we’ll miss you
