Proudly presenting the Minack Theatre’s first EVER livestream!

Thanks to Rima Staines for our wonderful Mayven image

As we approach the Winter Season of our Mayven Festival, we are excited about a lot of things. And while we’re trying not to have a ‘favourite child’ this one is an absolute Christmas cracker.

***STOP PRESS! A Scary Little Tempest has been included in The Guardian’s best theatre to stream this month!***

We are deeply proud and hugely excited to be partnering with both the Minack Theatre and Creation Theatre on A Scary Little Tempest, the Minack’s first live streamed performance ever, celebrating both our 20th and their 90th birthdays! It’s an absolute dream to be co-producing it with Creation, an award-winning digital fusion theatre company and it will be our fullest online piece of theatre to date.

On the 20th December, you are invited to a very unusual wedding in a stunning venue – Prospero and Ariel know you are coming but the bride and groom haven’t even met yet!

In our own cabaret style, we will use live performance and digital fusion to examine the love stories at the heart of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, combining live-streamed scenes, songs and projections. Can you see why we are SO excited about this?

Featuring the talents of the Radical Rep and guest illustrator Rima Staines, this 50 minute frolic into this classic text uses Cornish mythology and the Minack Theatre’s rugged sea-scape to explore themes of power, intimacy, manipulation and hope.

Follow proceedings from shipwreck to goddess-led wedding celebrations from the comfort of your own home, or join us at the Minack for this solstice sea-set one-off special!

Those watching live and those watching online will have different but complementary experiences, seeing the sections of the story we’ve chosen, the two love stories in the play, from different angles.

Those who bravely come to the live shows (outdoors at the Minack overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in December is not for the faint hearted but will be 100% memorable!) can also see what the remote audience saw as part of their ticket prices after the show in a follow up link.

We cannot wait to perform this and we so hope you can join us. Get your tickets here!
