Textile art and peppermint tea

L-R Vanessa, Diane, Becca – and Charlie dog in front

A few weeks ago in London, while preparing for our Mayven Festival, Artistic Director Becca, Producer Vanessa and I were lucky enough to be invited to the home of artist Diane Goldie.

Diane makes wearable art, and was the creator of our Greenham 40 Commemorative robe last year. So delighted were we with it, that this year we commissioned two entirely new robes to form part of our Mayven celebration and we popped along to her flat in Brixton after rehearsals for our Historic Royal Palaces collaboration to pick them up.

Aren’t they gorgeous? Needless to say we were thrilled, and took turns trying on our new vulva themed robes in Diane’s living room, as well as poring over the collection of previous works, and works in progress, throughout her home. These included paintings, dolls, murals, puppets and more fantastic textile pieces. Afterwards, Diane popped the kettle on and we were privileged to spend an hour with her and her dog Charlie discussing feminism, veganism, autism and Diane’s passion for five rhythms dance over a nice cup of peppermint tea.
