Greenham Common 40th Anniversary Celebration (POW! Thanet)

8th May 2021 - 9th May 2021

An immersive, historical, theatrical experience, hosted by Scary Little Girls as part of POW! Thanet 2021 Festival.

In September 1981, 36 women walked from Cardiff to the RAF base at Greenham Common in protest against the American government holding nuclear cruise missiles on common land. This marked the beginning of a 19 year protest at Greenham Common.

Join us for this live in-person event in the gardens of the Powell-Cotton Museum in Birchington-on-Sea, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp.

This event allows you to experience aspects of the peace camp, including campfire singing, banner making and discussion.

You will choose a time slot as a group or individual, and be led through the experience in socially distanced groups of 6 – please see the POW! Thanet website for more details on Covid-safe arrangements for this event.
