Jasper Morrison, Redruth

In this amusing story, 15-year-old Jasper Morrison from Redruth recounts a memorable experience he had at a Nos Lowen—a Cornish dance event—just a few days before. While dancing, he noticed an outside area and decided to venture out for some fresh air. Unsure of how to get there, he struck up a conversation with someone who gave him directions. Jasper set off, but as he approached, he realized there were two doors. When one door opened, he assumed it was the right one and entered, only to find himself in a strange, backstage area that he didn’t expect.

Curious, Jasper continued exploring and found a set of stairs leading down to a series of doors: one with a keypad, another with a padlock, and a third with cage-like bars. Just as he was about to turn around, the door he had just entered mysteriously locked behind him, trapping him inside. He found himself stuck in a soundproof room for about 20 minutes, unsure of how to escape. After a while, two random teenagers wandered in and, with their help, Jasper discovered that the exit had actually been right there the whole time—he’d simply missed it.
