Nell Davies is a Penzance-based singer-songwriter, playing post-punk indie rock.
She started making music in lockdown, after reading Viv Albertine’s autobiography inspired her to buy a guitar and write her first song. Her self-written, self-produced, self-released songs, recorded in an old pigsty in her garden, have been featured on BBC Introducing, Spotify New Music Friday and Amazing Radio, and her two singles, A Sad Kind of Freedom and Repeat After Me, have had 400,000 Spotify streams in total.
A Sad Kind of Freedom was chosen as a single of the week by God is in the TV, and Nell has been described by Indie Rocks Radio as an ‘exquisite indie-pop voice’. Listen With Monger said of her songs, ‘Beneath the cheery and sickly-sweet pop melodies lies a wry smile and a dry sense of humour’.
