Common Ground: Panel discussion and book talk

28th May 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Join us in the Cafe at Ventnor Exchange to hear all about life at the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp from women who were there. Hear songs and stories that bring the camp to life as we reflect on the impact of the camp 40 years on.

Greenham child and author Rebecca Mordan will introduce her book ‘Out of the Darkness: Greenham Voices 1981 – 2000’  sharing the impact her early experiences of the camp have had on her life.

Did you visit the Greenham Common Peace Camp? If so we’d love to hear your stories too and take the  opportunity to interview you for Greenham Women Everywhere’s oral history project about your experiences of Greenham.

About Common Ground

This event was made possible thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is part of a project created by Scary Little Girls in collaboration with Greenham Women Everywhere CIC to map the impact of the peace camp on the women who inhabited it and the communities they returned to.

About Greenham Common Peace Camp

Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp was an enduring and iconic protest spanning 19 years from 1981 – 2000. Whilst the occupation of the common began with the aim of forcing out the US nuclear warheads from Berkshire, the protest became a focal point of feminist history and has left a legacy of women’s liberation around the world. As women travelled to Greenham from across the UK, local support hubs formed to ‘Carry Greenham Home’.

This event was made possible thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is part of a project created by Scary Little Girls in collaboration with Greenham Women Everywhere CIC to map the impact of the peace camp on the women who inhabited it and the communities they returned to.
