This Christmas we’re sharing a surprising and simple but effective cocktail with you – meet the delicious white mulled wine!
To make this festive drink, you will need:
- Dry, fruity white wine
- Cardamom
- Pink peppercorns
- Cinnamon stick
- Fresh ginger
- Coriander seeds
- Almonds and raisins
- Golden syrup, maple syrup, or coconut blossom syrup
- A good quality spirit
Here, Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan shares how to mix this cocktail:
“Get a decent, but not too plush, dry, fruity white wine and pop into a big pan. Add some cardamom, pink peppercorns, a cinnamon stick, a chunk of fresh ginger and some coriander seeds. Simmer gently for as long as you can to mull those spices in!
While that’s happening, prepare two wine goblets by putting a few flaked almonds and some golden raisins at the bottom. This is where your white mulled wine will go, but you’ll need to pop a teaspoon in to conduct the heat so you don’t damage or shatter the glass (you can just use a mug but I love glassware)!
Returning to your mulling wine pan, add the sweetener of your choice to taste – golden syrup, maple syrup, or coconut blossom syrup. When you’re done with that, throw in a good quality spirit, vodka, or a golden rum (I’ve even used bourbon and it worked)!
Check again for flavour, you may need to add a little more syrup, then serve!”
