Women Create! is the world’s first ever conference exclusively for cancelled female and feminist artists from across the political spectrum. It will be held in Central London on May 30th and 31st 2025. Our Artistic Director Rebecca Mordan will be one of the speakers.
Worldwide, women are having their rights to self expression censored, throttled and cancelled under growing tyranny.
Women Create aims to change that. From rights restriction in Iran to representation in STEM in America and beyond, the war on women is real.
Whether you are a citizen concerned about the state of the arts for women and freedom of expression, a cancelled female artist who needs a voice, an activist, ally or academic, this event welcomes you to hear the voices and experience the works of the canaries in culture coalmine most marginalised.
Artistic Director Becca says, “As one of the co-ordinators of the London Reclaim the Night marches, a long-time feminist activist and spokeswoman, and with my knowledge of history, both recent such as the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp and more ancient, I know that women’s voices have been consciously stifled for millennia.
It’s said that for most of history ‘Anonymous’ was a woman, and we’re still in that place today. Women all around the world are alive to the fact that when they speak out on matters of importance, there is a strong possibility of abuse and attacks, both online and physical.
I started Scary Little Girls precisely to ‘level the playing field’ in the arts after my own experiences of bullying, harassment and lack of opportunity. Women have the right and freedom to speak their minds, to discuss ideas, to debate, to learn more, and to have fun together, and this conference is a vital part of saying we will no longer be silenced.”
Becca will be speaking alongside other artists including Iranian-born campaigner, writer, and Spokesperson of One Law for All and the Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain, Maryam Namazie, Ceramicist Claudia Clare, and more.
