SUMMARY:Salon de la Vie - help us develop our new online show!
DESCRIPTION:Join us online on the 8th April 2020 for the first of our celebratory storytelling salons\, which we’ve joyfully transformed into an online interactive cabaret to help us all remember how fabulous humans can be! \nHosted by Scary Little Girls’ Rebecca Mordan\, Salon de la Vie will be a fortnightly 15 – 20 minute extravaganza of songs\, storytelling\, merriment and conversation\, focusing each time on an awe-inspiring\, remarkable and brave human from the world of film\, music\, literature and history\, drawing parallels with the achievements of activists today\, to celebrate how people positively embody the change they want to see in the world\, for themselves and for others. And we’re super proud that each salon has a custom illustration provided by the wonderful Jacky Fleming. \nThis first show is a warm up and development show as we test ideas. We’re aiming to bring you bitesize chunks of history\, biography and good cheer in a fun\, feminist space – will we hit the mark? We’d love you to tell us on Facebook Live! \nScary Little Girls is a vibrant\, hard-working production hub whose commitment and passion for theatrical and artistic storytelling is borne out by the variety of scary little work we have created and the support we have from our scary little artists and audiences. \nCome along every other Wednesday evening to join in with our singing\, celebration and joy! \n  \nWe’d like to thank our amazing funders Arts Council England\, Cornwall Council and Feast for supporting this project

Who was she? \nFind out at our next Salon de la Vie\, 7.30 pm Wednesday 22nd April on Facebook Live. Feel like you’re in the room by making the cocktail we’ll be drinking (see below for the recipe!). \nSalon de la Vie is Scary Little Girls’ contribution to fun and feminism in a time of COVID-19! DESCRIPTION:Tonight’s Salon de la Vie is an extra one\, and an extra special one! \nToday is the 261st anniversary of Mary Wollstonecraft’s birthday and we are celebrating this momentous day by hosting a joyous celebratory Salon. \nAs well as this\, we’ll be exploring the brand new today Wollstonecraft Walks app voiced by our own Rebecca Mordan! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe app allows you to take a walk around the birthplace of feminism\, Newington Green\, following in the footsteps of the champion of girls education\, Mary Wollstonecraft herself\, sharing details of her life and times as well as her impact on women\, politics and 21st century society and culture. The app contains…\n\nWOLLSTONECRAFT WALK GUIDE: Take a guided audio walk around Newington Green stopping off at significant locations (The Cobblers\, Newington Green School\, Lady Mildmay pub) and listen to the words of iconic feminist writers whilst hearing about the herstory of Newington Green.\n\n\n\nPodcasts – hosted by Marina Garvey Birch and Erica McKoy: speaking to local people about their experience of the walks\, readings from Maya Angelou\, Mary Wollstonecraft\, Virginia Woolf\, Michelle Obama BTS convo with Anna Birch (Fragments & Monuments) and Rebecca Mordan (Scary Little Girls).\nFragments & Monuments performance and film archive (2000-2020)\nSchool Assembly resources\n\n\n\nThere are also Mary themed children’s activities courtesy of Unity Arts and a wonderful anthology curated by Professor Emma Clery with contributions from activists\, feminist and academics today celebrating Mary’s legacy available at NGMH.org.uk\, nearer the time.
