What surprises lie behind cupboard doors? \nIn autumn 2023 and spring 2024\, Scary Little Girls travelled across Cornwall from Ruan Minor to Saltash and Penzance to Padstow\, inviting people to share their stories—from everyday moments and funny incidents to childhood memories\, myths\, and legends—at a series of Chatty Cakey Tea events. Now\, ‘Karavan An Chi Drolla’ invites you to hear these stories\, told by Cornish voices\, and reflect on what it means to be Cornish. \nWe invite you to delve into this magical Karavan\, stay for a moment or a while\, and find a story that tickles you\, makes you wonder or leaves you wanting more. \nThe full archive of collected stories will be preserved in Kresen Kernow from 2025 and we’ll be taking the Karavan to other locations too – watch this space! \nThis event is happening just before the Lantern Parade\, celebrating Penzance’s own Sir Humphry Davy. SUMMARY:The Mayven
DESCRIPTION:After multiple sell-out seasons in Cornwall\, the Mayven Festival hits London with a new regular event in association with Olive Gold\, Emer O Connor Storyteller and Echo Chamber. \nFor our inaugural night\, we will gather like witches around the flames of feminist festivity as winter draws near. Using songs and storytelling\, we will create an evening exploring women’s experiences ranging from the sinister to the sensual\, the divine to the downright daft. \nRebecca Mordan\, Artistic Director said: “We’ve all had such a brilliant time making and sharing work together for multiple sell-out shows in Cornwall\, and given that some of us live in London\, it felt like a natural next step to grow this community here and celebrate each other.” \nRadhika Aggarwal\, founder of Echo Chamber\, added: “It truly feels like we are creating something new together – something that holds the spirit and ethos of the original Mayven festivals\, and also bringing our own injection of energy and values. The London event will be a continuation of the brilliant work started in Cornwall.” \nOur aim is to host a quarterly Mayven event\, keeping the theme seasonal\, moving around London to connect with a wide variety of creative communities. We invite you to laugh and imbibe with us\, and create a sisterly solstice where all kind souls are welcome. At this inaugural event\, co-hosts Becca and Radhika will be joined by previous Mayven performers and emerging artists from Central Drama School and the Central St Martin fashion school including… \nMax Turner and Funny Women finalist Suse Steed! Having returned from Edinburgh Comedy Festival with her solo show\, Suse is soon to feature in the Netflix Documentary “The Spiders Web”. \nSalma the Poet has been writing since she was 12. Her poems are based on life experience and she particularly loves sharing pieces focused on female empowerment. She has performed at Frieze Art Fair\, Wilderness Festival\, amongst many others and enjoys writing for the Poetry Takeaway. \nRadhika Aggarwal has loved producing this event and working on the last couple of Mayvens in Cornwall\, performing to sell-out audiences in theatres\, eco-parks and gardens. Championing female led storytelling and making space for her fellow creatives and encouraging bold ideas is what she is all about! More @echochamberaudio too. \nAlice Robinson/Olive Gold has been writing melodies since learning to hum. Her themes are myth\, memory and matters of the heart\, all with a strong core of feminism and joy. Her voice has been described as ‘like a cup of tea’\, which she takes as the highest of the compliments. \nFollow Emer on Twitter/X @EmerOConnorActs \nA percentage of sales will be donated to the Palestinian Circus School. \nA limited number of Pay What You Can tickets will be available on the door (suggested price £10) \nRunning Time:  90 minutes including a 15min interval \nContent warnings: adult themes and strong language \nBook your tickets here to join us in this legendary venue for a night of sisterhood\, solidarity and downright silliness! \n  \n \n  \nRead the full press release

And following a sold out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival\, the outrageous stand up of Jennifer Kennedy – award-winning author of Martha Gets the Menopause\, Galloping Catastrophe: Musings of a Menopausal Woman and the hugely successful blog Is It Just Me? – brings you Menopausal Monologues. \nThis is a collection of personal monologues breaking the silence around the menopause and giving voice to a variety of women’s (and some of their significant others’) real experiences. \nEnjoy these two acts held together with music and song exploring and celebrating middle aged women\, – or Queenagers! \n“So much laughter\, a joyful evening that felt like an awesome sisterhood.”Join us before the show for cakes and cocktails with our women-only playlist and some radical crafting! \nSOLD OUT – contact venue for returns! \n

SUMMARY:Cornish Stories - Creative Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us to discover stories collected from across the county and create your own creative response to add to our collection.  \nWe’ve been collecting stories through our Chatty Cakey Tea events and you can discover all about the lives of the people who live in local communities through their own words. Listen to our collected stories and create your own images using collage and print to illustrate some of these incredible tales. \nOr simply join us to find out more about The Living Room and add your own story of Cornwall to our archive. \nCornish Stories is a SPF funded project which seeks to capture local myths\, legends and personal stories through the voices of the people who live here. Look out for The Living Room coming soon in autumn 2024 – a magical story-exploring caravan coming to a community near you! You’ll also be able to listen to stories from across the county in our Digital Living Room and full length interviews will be stored with Kresen Kernow.

SUMMARY:Riot Showgrrrls Club - Liskeard
DESCRIPTION:***PLEASE NOTE VENUE CHANGE – this will now be held at STERTS not The Liskerett Centre. All original tickets are still valid.*** \n‘The mixture of comedy\, songs and some hard-hitting facts made for an electric evening\, and then the space for chats and tunes after was just what I needed\, thank you so much for this transformative event – viva la vulva!’ – Audience Member at The Riot Showgrrrls Club\, 2022 \nThe Riot Showgrrrls Club is a cabaret show and participatory craftivism event using humour\, songs and storytelling to entertain and encourage conversation about how much better than porn actual sex is. \nImagine a club where you are greeted with sparkling wine\, a suggestive cake and the feminist hand-stamp of your choosing… \nIn this club you are part of a show that combines Patriarchy Bingo\, PowerPoint and madrigals about the vulva in a fast-paced\, feel-good (mostly) feminist fling about great sex in an age of terrible porn. \nThe Riot Showgrrrls Club is run by your hosts\, glamorous comediennes and singers who have the truth-telling powers of Cassandra\, the political punch of Gloria Steinem and the high quality daftness of Melissa McCarthy (in her great films like the Heat and Spy\, not those rubbish ones her husband directs). \nHow does such a night end? Well\, after the show you stay on in the club to listen to the women-only DJ set\, make your own club membership card with our Radical Craftivist\, have some more drinks and get your conversation on – ‘cos in our revolution we’ll find sisterhood and there will be dancing! \nOriginally commissioned for the Gilded Balloon\, Edinburgh in 2008\, when lad mags were in their heyday\, cabaret meant tit tassels and female stripping and porn was being mainstreamed right into our cultural veins\, Scary Little Girls bravely took a pro-sex anti-porn show to Edinburgh. \nBook your tickets here and check out the other show dates in our blog here! \nDue to unforeseen circumstances\, this event will now be held at Sterts\, rather than the Liskerrett Centre. All original tickets are still valid. This is through no fault of the original venue and we look forward to holding future shows there.
