DESCRIPTION:Join us for a lunchtime talk at the Goethe-Institut! Together with Catherine Eschle\, our director Rebecca Mordan will talk about the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp (1981-2000) then and now\, and its lessons and legacies for feminist protest. \nGreenham Common Women’s Peace Camp was the largest and most sustained feminist protest in modern British history. For this Talk at It event\, Rebecca Mordan will join Catherine Eschle of the University of Strathclyde to reflect on Greenham’s relevance for contemporary feminism. \nWe invite you to a lively conversation\, ranging from the politics of erasure and remembering to strategies for archiving feminism in the past and present\, and from the changing forms of feminist protest since Greenham to the continued urgency of resisting the tentacles of patriarchy\, militarism and environmental destruction. \nThis event is part of the Goethe-Institut’s regular thematic keynote talks of 15-30 minutes designed to encourage open and frank discourse. Join us for your lunch break to be inspired\, share ideas and meet likeminded people. Light refreshments will be provided. \nThe talk will also be livestreamed on Instagram – join us online if you can’t come in person!

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Words and Actions for a morning to hear of stories\, songs and memories of Greenham Common and Faslane Peace Camps and find out more about the work Secure Scotland and Peace and Justice Scotland are doing to create a culture of peace across Scotland  \nIt’s been 40 years since the Greenham Common and Faslane Peace camps were set up as a physical presence oppose to oppose nuclear weapons. Iconic examples of post war peace camps’\, their tactics\, including building on the tradition of non-violent direct action\, played their part in inspiring the Occupy movement\, climate camp and the direct action of XR today.   \nGreenham Common is the largest women’s led movement since suffrage and today Faslane Peace Camp remains the olderst continuous camp in the world. Come and consider what we learned and can learn from the movement\, as well as hear about the inspiring women who have taken part over the years.  \nWhat’s On: \nWe’re inviting you to a Community Coffee morning where you’ll be able to find out more about Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camps and Faslane Peace Camp through our pop up exhibition\, free craft activity\, the chance to share your own stories of resistance and hear about the work local organisations are doing today including local campaigns and how you can get involved.  \nRefreshments will be provided. It is part of a project created by Scary Little Girls in collaboration with Greenham Women Everywhere CIC to map the impact of the Peace Camp on the women who inhabited it and the communities they returned to. \nAbout Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp \nGreenham Common Women’s Peace Camp was an enduring and iconic protest spanning 19 years from 1981 – 2000. Whilst the occupation of the common began with the aim of forcing out the US nuclear warheads from Berkshire\, the protest became a focal point of feminist history and has left a legacy of women’s liberation around the world. \nBroadway will be hosting an exhibition where you can find out all about this powerful movement that began 40 years ago and continues to influence today. \nHang out in a bender tent listening to a specially created soundscape of sounds and stories from the peace camp and interviews with Greenham Women. Chat to public herstorians about your memories of Greenham and hear theirs. DESCRIPTION:Join us at St Agnes Library for a cabaret night of songs and stories from Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp\, sharing tales of peaceful protest in Cornish and English! \nIn September 1981\, a group of women marched from Cardiff to RAF Greenham Common to protest the siting of American cruise missiles on British soil. What began as a ten-day walk became a 19-year occupation that changed the face of peaceful protest forever. Women from across Britain—including many from Cornwall—left their homes\, their jobs\, sometimes their families\, to live in benders and tents through every weather\, facing arrest\, eviction and hostility\, united by the belief that they could change the world. And they did. \nNow\, we invite you to an evening celebrating the extraordinary contribution Cornish women made to this iconic movement. \nJoin us for a cabaret night filled with songs and stories from Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. Through verbatim theatre and music\, performers including Rebecca Mordan (Artistic Director of Scary Little Girls and co-founder of the Greenham Women Everywhere archive project) alongside Cornish bards Bec Applebee and Fiona O’Cleirigh will share the tales of the peace women—in both Cornish and English—creating an evening of rousing performances that honours their courage\, creativity and defiance. \nWhether you were there\, you remember watching it on the news\, or you’re discovering this remarkable piece of women’s history for the first time\, this is an evening to honour the women who proved that peaceful\, creative resistance can move the world. \nIn branch paper tickets are available for £8 and online tickets through TicketSource are available for £8 plus 67p per ticket booking fee.
