SUMMARY:Common Ground: An Exhibition of Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp
DESCRIPTION:Scary Little Girls and Positive Lights Projects join forces to bring you a pop-up exhibition and free craft activities celebrating Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp. \nPop-Up Exhibition \nLook around the gallery at portrait photos of the Greenham Women by Christine Bradshaw\, chat to us about your memories of Greenham and hear ours. Hang out in our bender tent listening to a soundscape of stories from the peace camp and interviews with Greenham Women. Our oral history team will be there to record your memories of Greenham so that you can become part of our growing archive. \nFree Craft Activities: \n11am – 1pm Radical Bunting with Caroline Wilkins \nDrop-in at any time to make protest bunting using simple kitchen table print techniques. Your printed bunting flags will be stitched together and will travel around the UK with Scary Little Girls as we continue to gather Greenham stories. \n2pm – 4pm TBC Free Craft Activity \nYou can drop in for these activities at any time. All materials will be provided. \nAbout Common Ground \nCommon Ground is a series of events bringing the legacy of Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp to local communities across the UK. It is part of a project created by Scary Little Girls in collaboration with Greenham Women Everywhere CIC to map the impact of the Peace Camp on the women who inhabited it and the communities they returned to. This project has been made possible thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund. \nAbout Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp \nGreenham Common Women’s Peace Camp was an enduring and iconic protest spanning 19 years from 1981 – 2000. Whilst the occupation of the common began with the aim of forcing out the US nuclear warheads from Berkshire\, the protest became a focal point of feminist history and has left a legacy of women’s liberation around the world.
