SUMMARY:The Mayven
DESCRIPTION:After multiple sell-out seasons in Cornwall\, the Mayven Festival hits London with a new regular event in association with Olive Gold\, Emer O Connor Storyteller and Echo Chamber. \nFor our inaugural night\, we will gather like witches around the flames of feminist festivity as winter draws near. Using songs and storytelling\, we will create an evening exploring women’s experiences ranging from the sinister to the sensual\, the divine to the downright daft. \nRebecca Mordan\, Artistic Director said: “We’ve all had such a brilliant time making and sharing work together for multiple sell-out shows in Cornwall\, and given that some of us live in London\, it felt like a natural next step to grow this community here and celebrate each other.” \nRadhika Aggarwal\, founder of Echo Chamber\, added: “It truly feels like we are creating something new together – something that holds the spirit and ethos of the original Mayven festivals\, and also bringing our own injection of energy and values. The London event will be a continuation of the brilliant work started in Cornwall.” \nOur aim is to host a quarterly Mayven event\, keeping the theme seasonal\, moving around London to connect with a wide variety of creative communities. We invite you to laugh and imbibe with us\, and create a sisterly solstice where all kind souls are welcome. At this inaugural event\, co-hosts Becca and Radhika will be joined by previous Mayven performers and emerging artists from Central Drama School and the Central St Martin fashion school including… \nMax Turner and Funny Women finalist Suse Steed! Having returned from Edinburgh Comedy Festival with her solo show\, Suse is soon to feature in the Netflix Documentary “The Spiders Web”. \nSalma the Poet has been writing since she was 12. Her poems are based on life experience and she particularly loves sharing pieces focused on female empowerment. She has performed at Frieze Art Fair\, Wilderness Festival\, amongst many others and enjoys writing for the Poetry Takeaway. \nRadhika Aggarwal has loved producing this event and working on the last couple of Mayvens in Cornwall\, performing to sell-out audiences in theatres\, eco-parks and gardens. Championing female led storytelling and making space for her fellow creatives and encouraging bold ideas is what she is all about! More @echochamberaudio too. \nAlice Robinson/Olive Gold has been writing melodies since learning to hum. Her themes are myth\, memory and matters of the heart\, all with a strong core of feminism and joy. Her voice has been described as ‘like a cup of tea’\, which she takes as the highest of the compliments. \nFollow Emer on Twitter/X @EmerOConnorActs \nA percentage of sales will be donated to the Palestinian Circus School. \nA limited number of Pay What You Can tickets will be available on the door (suggested price £10) \nRunning Time:  90 minutes including a 15min interval \nContent warnings: adult themes and strong language \nBook your tickets here to join us in this legendary venue for a night of sisterhood\, solidarity and downright silliness! \n  \n \n  \nRead the full press release
