With special guest Kudzanayi Chiwawa we look at Maya’s childhood\, her revolutionary writing and her influence on women everywhere. \nWe can’t wait to celebrate this multifaceted powerhouse of talent with you\, sharing readings of her poems and autobiography and praising her like we should! \nDid you know? \nIn 2011 Maya spoke out in opposition to a paraphrase of a quotation by King that appeared on a memorial\, saying\, “The quote makes Dr. Martin Luther King look like an arrogant twit” \nMaya totally redefined the concept of the autobiography\, with her 7 volumes about her life starting with “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” \nFollow this link for one of the most seemingly unlike collaborations of all time; Maya Angelou\, Jessica Mitford and Bernard Cribbins! \n  \nAbout Salon de la Vie \nHosted by Scary Little Girls’ Rebecca Mordan\, Salon de la Vie is a series of fortnightly 15 – 20 minute extravaganzas of songs\, storytelling\, merriment and conversation\, focusing each time on an awe-inspiring\, remarkable and brave human from the world of film\, music\, literature and history\, drawing parallels with the achievements of activists today\, to celebrate how people positively embody the change they want to see in the world\, for themselves and for others.
